I always enjoy a lot eating at Mouries in Platia Varnava,wonderful food and family atmosphere.Good wine friendly people and very good service.Dishes are excellent from at and salads to very tasty casserole dishes.Clean and neat.Situated in Varnava square in Pagrati which is vibrant and lively.They have tables outside for the summer.Cool and comfortable for the hot summer evenings.I definitely suggest it.

Θαυμάσια ποικιλία ψαρικών, καλής ποιότητας τσίπουρο. Ωραία γωνιά, καθίσαμε έξω στην πλατεία και η ατμόσφαιρα ήταν ήρεμη, καταπληκτική, γνήσια ελληνική. Εξυπηρέτηση γρήγορη, φιλική.

We visit Mouries every year when we come to Athens. The fillet steak never disappoint, the lamb chops are fantastic, and the rest of the fare is different enough from your average Greek taverna to make it a novel experience.Because it was a bit chilly we chose to sit inside which was marred by the Greek approach to most laws, considering them "advisory", so people were smoking indoors. Advise only to visit when it's warm and you can sit outside if smoking bothers you.

My husband used to hang out here and it was his favourite place for supper on weekends... It is not made to order it is mostly dishes that take an entire day to prepare and it did not disappoint. The gigantes, chickpeas and peas were to die for! Also enjoyed the yemista (stuffed tomatoes) and beef in tomato sauce. Must mention the lemon roast potatoes that may have been the best I've ever had!

My wife and I had dinner here this evening and were happy to see the reviews were accurate or maybe not as good as our experience. We enjoyed large portions of very tasty meat and potatoes for just €8 each. The 0.5l Fix Greek beer was just €2 and no charge for water. Just remember most Greek restaurants charge €0.80 for the bread per person. We happily recommend Mouries for all who might be in the area or passing by! Thanks from Texas!

I am vegetarian, but I know some locals who eat meat. I never seen their faces that satisfied. They say its tender, tasty and melts in their mouths. I like their veg dishes too. But I just thought its worths recommending :)
